  PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE  

Director of diversity, Ventura County Star, 2004 — 2008. Promoting diversity awareness programs throughout the newspaper and developing community diversity outreach projects.
General manager, Editor, Mi Estrella, the Star’s weekly bilingual publication, 2005 — 2008. Responsible for overseeing Mi Estrella’s strategic growth in the areas of advertising, circulation, editorial content, marketing and production.
Wrote a weekly diversity column, 2004 — 2008.
Diversity writer providing coverage of diversity issues in the community, 2002 — 2004.
Business editor, Ventura County Star, 1994 — 2002.

Previous positions — Business editor for Thomson Newspapers’ operations in Camarillo, Oxnard and Ventura; environmental reporter, city beat reporter and business reporter for the Ventura Star-Free Press and community reporter for the Los Angeles Daily News and the Orange County Register.
